Portable Air Conditioner Venting Question?
Hello, I have the LG model LP0910WNR 9000BTU Portable Air Conditioner. I am wondering if I need to remove the screen on my window when venting this unit to the outside? I would rather leave it in place if I could getaway with it. The screen is about 3 inches from where the vent would be exhausting to the outside. Thanks!

Hey, depending on your unit you may not have to remove your screen.
"Do I have to remove my screen from the window with the Window Kit?
The answer to this question may vary based upon your particular window and screen. However, most of our customers find that they can leave the screen in the window and that the exhaust hose of the AC does not extend out from the window."

When you run a portable AC, your room needs to be sealed up pretty tightly in order for it to work right. This includes the area around the window vent. I'm assuming you're using a standard window kit - as long as the window sash fits snug against the window kit panel with no openings, I don't think the screen will cause a problem with how well it operates. (Though it might get dirty faster, as suggested by another user.)

Our window is low to the floor so the vent would be lower than the unit. Will it work going down instead of up?

I wouldn't do it. You're going to have moisture coming out the vent & that will attract dirt, resulting in build-up on the screen & restriction of the airflow. If you restrict the airflow, your A/C will over heat.

Well, when you vent, it's probably best to leave the window open because others will be able to hear your frustrations and you will feel better, I promise!
