My daughter attempted suicide, she's been home for 13 days... When will I feel safe again?

My daughter is 13.

She was in the hospital for 7 days.

She's in counseling x2 a week now.

I am terrified to leave her side.

Does anyone know how long it will take until I feel comfortable again with letting her out of my site?!?

Thanks!

My younger sister tried back in Feb. Same thing, she was in the hospital for 2 weeks, then went to a mental hospital for further treatment. She talked her way out of it of coarse, so she was sent home. Then a few weeks ago it happened again. Same thing. Its been extremely difficult to deal with, my parents are worried sick as am I. Its not going to happen over night. The best advice I can give you is to talk, even when things make her (or yourself) uncomfortable. As soon as she says her problems out loud, shes gonna start to feel better. There is no time limit on how long someone needs to watch them. Deal with one day at a time. Be as lovely and listen as well as you can. I wish I could tell you it all goes away soon but it doesn't. I know I would rather go threw all of this than actually loose my sister. The healing time is worth it if you really love someone.

that must be very scary for you. and you just have to talk to your daughter about whats troubling her and keep and an out for her you'll feel safe as long as you know shes doing a little better

im sorry to hear that, i understand that you are worried and have every right to be...but dont smother her that might make her push you away! good luck and just try to listen to her and what she wants too!

you have every right to be scared, it's perfectly ok to be scared. the important part is to listen to your daughter and her concerns.

  • First of all, why she tried to commit suicide?
