What are the average BA by position?
Does anybody know the average batting average by position in baseball? The third baseman on my team thinks that catching every inning of every game doesn't affect performance at the plate.

Here are the batting averages by position for the 2011 Major League season.
C: .245
1B: .271
2B: .260
3B: .252
SS: .263
LF: .255
CF: .261
RF: .269
DH: .263
P: .141

well its different for every team..catchers arent always lacking in hitting ability like aj from the sox and ivan rodriguez from detroit but mostly you go by batting order not position to find out which position hits the best
