How important is it that the planned IPO goes ahead for Man Utd this summer?

So yeah. Debt levels are still ridiculously high, although serviceable, and there more than likely isn't spare cash to buy the players we are being linked with.

The IPO seems like an almost perfect solution to me?

Reduce the debt significantly and add a decent amount of money into the club accounts.

Seems almost win/win to me, although we still have the slimey yanks runnning the show.

Update:

@Patel:

I don't see that as a problem tbh. Manchester United are an organisation almost every investor would love to be a part of. Our valuation is not going to increase anytime soon, and the Glazer's will know this. To get £550m for 25% of you're company is unrivalled buisness in football. No other club could pull that off. And 75% of the club would still hold immense value in 10 years time, providing we can sustain a decent level of success, if the Glazers wanted to sell.

    I think the IPO is an unnecessary risk as Glazer would only have 70% of the shares left

    and would he get great money for the 70% of shares if he's willing to sell? I think not...and we might be stuck with Glazer forever

    Raising through IPO would result in dilution of control. It can also happen that an undercover Billionaire might purchase majority of the shares. This would enable him to challenge/replace the board and so on so on.

    If Glazers are in for the long term, IPO wont happen/
