On a scale on 1-10, how ridiculous is this transfer in your opinion?
Lucas Ocampos - 18 yo, River Plate winger, said to be the next big thing, linked with every big club in Europe, about to sign for 2nd Division French side AS Monaco for €18m ????
W.T.H?
Out of all the silly transfers that have happened in the past, this surely takes the biscuit (if it goes ahead, which it probably will).
10 AnswersEnglish Football9 years agoCarroll has gone to West Ham on loan? Bad business for Liverpool?
So yeah, it's a season loan with a fee of £2m , with the option of £ paying 17m at the end of it to make it permanent, providing WHU are still in the prem!
Is that not terrible business from Liverpool? A loss of about £16m over 30 months :?
7 AnswersEnglish Football9 years agoReal Madrid fans : Would it bother you if Nuri Sahin left?
Just a simple question.
He's been linked with Man Utd, and I know it WONT happen, but just to see if you see him as too valuable a player to move on?
6 AnswersSpanish Football9 years agoManchester United agree Shinji Kagawa deal! :)?
So, it's finally happened, as pretty much everyone knew it would, despite some deluded Arsenal fans thinking he would go to them over United :P
Great deal? Will it see us change the way we play?
12 AnswersEnglish Football9 years agoIs Roy trying to build bridges with Liverpool fans?
Because, to be honest, I'm struggling to come up with any other reason as to why he has included Downing and Carroll in the squad, and Henderson in the back-up's...
Overlooks the best English CM all season long, Michael Carrick = Shocking Decision.
Calls up 0 assist + 0 goal Downing = Even more shocking decision.
6 AnswersEnglish Football9 years agoKwadwo Asamoah? Good enough for Top Level football?
The latest player to be linked with Manchester United (the ever-reliable (lol) Italian media report that we have made a £12m bid) is Udinese's industrious midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah.
Anyone here watch a lot of Italian football who can give more insight? A good transfer for that fee? Ideal player for United?
2 AnswersEnglish Football9 years agoIs a change of formation as vital for Man Utd as the aquisition of new players?
Now, It's just my own opinion, and I don't know whether other Utd fans (or football fans in general) feel the same, but 4-4-2 is ridiculously out-dated as a top-level tactic.
You look at Real Madrid (4-2-3-1) and Barcelona (4-3-3), and you see teams so dynamic that they are capable of scoring at any time. You look at United (4-4-2) and what we're going to do is pretty predictable. When we come up against more dynamic teams (City, Bilboa, Benfica etc), we lose.
Other teams have moved away from traditional tactics, and personally, I think to compete with them, United need to do the same.
It's ok with us being linked with players like Hazard (we wont sign him, but still), Gaitan, Kagawa etc... But asking them to play in a traditional 4-4-2 wastes their talents. And tbh, 4-4-2 wastes the talents of some of our current players too!
It's clear that Utd need players (RB, CB, DM, AM), and unfortunatley clear we probably won't get them (least not all of them), but I think it would be a waste to try to "re-build" the team, without changing the base formation!
Agree? Disagree?
6 AnswersEnglish Football9 years agoHow important is it that the planned IPO goes ahead for Man Utd this summer?
So yeah. Debt levels are still ridiculously high, although serviceable, and there more than likely isn't spare cash to buy the players we are being linked with.
The IPO seems like an almost perfect solution to me?
Reduce the debt significantly and add a decent amount of money into the club accounts.
Seems almost win/win to me, although we still have the slimey yanks runnning the show.
4 AnswersEnglish Football9 years agoIn 10 years, which will be the "strongest" league in Europe?
I see a lot of banter on here about which league is the strongest right now, but what about in a decade's time?
Premier League? Serie A? La Liga? Bundesliga? Other?
For me, it will be the Bundesliga, mainly because of financial reasons.
You're opinions?
8 AnswersEnglish Football9 years agoShinji Kagawa heading to the Premier League?
First off, it's just a rumour atm (From Bild - German Newspaper), but suggestions are that Kagawa is heading to the premier league (supposedly to Man Utd).
And it makes sense, United need a reasonably priced goalscoring attacking-mid , and Shinji Kagawa is a reasonably priced goalscoring attacking-mid. Got something like 16 goals in the Bundesliga this season helping Borussia Dortmund to the title!
If it goes through, out of 10, how good would this signing be for Man Utd?
5 AnswersEnglish Football9 years agoGreat game, would you agree?
I think the first half was the better, with more free-flowing attacking football, but the second half was a great showcase of tactical footbal, you're thoughts?
Oh, and by the way, KERCHING!!!!
9 AnswersEnglish Football9 years agoHow good is "A Game Of Thrones" ? Im considering watching through it...?
Basically, heard a few good things about it, but I'm not sure whether I would enjoy it.
So what is it similar to, and what is the main plot (without giving too much away please...)?
4 AnswersOther - Television9 years ago£100m warchest. What would you're team look like after?
Title says it all really... Post what you're team's starting line-up would look like after you've spent £100m! Also give rough values of the players you've brought in!
Mine would be as follows:
GK - De Gea
RB - Debuchy (£12m)
CB - Vidic
CB - Dede (£18m)
LB - Evra
RM - Valencia
CM - Carrick
CM - Strootman (£15m)
LM - Hazard (£35m)
ST - Rooney
ST - Huntelaar (£20m)
6 AnswersEnglish Football9 years agoStrootman to Man United?
So that's the latest rumour, albeit taken with more than a pinch of salt given the story originated from the Mirror.
United fans: Would you be happy with this guy for £15m? Is there someone else you would want for the "midfield ball-winner" role for a similar price tag?
To everyone: Is this guy any good? Seems to have a lot of promise, and is keeping De Jong out of the Dutch team!?
3 AnswersEnglish Football9 years agoPredict the final table! BBC Predictor!?
Think you can get it right? The challenge is set, predict the results of all the remaining premier league games and post the final positions of teams in the top 5, and bottom 3, with their points and goal difference!
This is how it is at the moment: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league...
Mine?
1 - Man Utd (91) +59
2 - Man City (87) +64
3 - Tottenham (83) +39
4 - Arsenal (78) +34
5 - Chelsea (69) +27
18 - QPR (25) -37
19 - Wolves (24) -47
20 - Wigan (23) -49
Just a bit of fun (I seriously doubt I got any results right lol!), but give it a go!
7 AnswersEnglish Football9 years agoGetting fit, after no exercise for about 2 years? :P?
Basically, the title says it all. I used to be really fit, as i played football 2 or 3 times a week, as well as personal training.
But since leaving school, and gettting a job, my exercise has been non-existent (And my job is not one where im active... At all...), and yesterday morning, i decided to go for a jog, and was appalled at how unfit i am now ;(
My BMI is 18.5, so im right on the border between 'underweight' and 'normal weight' , for my height, if that matters at all?
So basically, anyone have any Exercise and Diet tips? They would be greatly appreciated :)
Many thanks, in advance :)
1 AnswerDiet & Fitness10 years agoNasri on £185k A WEEK? What the... ?
I thought Man City were done with over paying for players, and over paying the players themselves??
That's stupid money for Nasri, both the fee and the wages.
£24m for a player you could have got for free next summer (was a similar story with Boateng if i remember correctly?), and then put him on £185k a week?
Mind boggling...
15 AnswersEnglish Football10 years agoHow to get GCSE certificates from 2 years ago?
So basically, i haven't ever had my certificates, but that doesn't matter because i am willing to pay for them.
But basically, i've just been accepted onto a plumbing course at the local college and need to take proof of GCSE grades with me to my induction on 6th Sept.
Doesn't matter if they are official, or just ones i can download myself, but if i don't have them, i can't go on the course :/
2 AnswersStandards & Testing10 years agoSo Man Utd are being listed on the Singapore stock exchange?
So yeah, the first question says it all really. Utd have apparently lodged a listing application to be put on the Singapore stock exchange.
It should see us pay off a significant amount of our debt, but the question remains, will this allow us to increase spending? Or will the greedy Glazers pocket even more?
5 AnswersEnglish Football10 years agoSo Fabricio Coloccini has left Newcastle too?
Apparently, he's off to Valencia!
Who do Newcastle supporters want to replace him? Someone from in the club, or buying someone new?
