Question about the Royal Family?

If you are American, could it be legally possible to marry into the British Family?

    Yes, of course it would be legal, provided the American met criteria concerning education, character, background, general behavior, and so forth.

    Why on earth not?

    The British royals (like virtually all royal families) married foreigners for centuries. What would there be about Americans that would legally prevent such a marriage?

    That's not to say that all the Brits would be thrilled. They would not. There's a sort of knee-jerk hostility or snobbishness towards Americans on the part of many British. Moreover, quite a few would ask -- and not without reason -- why, given that we fought a war to get out from under their monarchy, an American should marry into their royal family?

    But there would be no legal way to prevent it.

    Yes, of course it is. It's legal to marry pretty much anyone you want to.

    But, you know...there are more royal families than the "British Family".

    Yes, there is no law that prevents a royal from marrying a foreigner
