What is a good fiction book for my mom?

I need a good wholesome book for my 84 year old mom. She can't find one with a happy ending. Unfortunately the only other reader in my family is my liberal sister and she is recommending books that are violent and often sexual. My mom is a conservative Christian woman and is at a loss on some good fiction to read. I read technical books primarily so I don't have a clue on what to recommend. I asked the local librarian to recommend something and that was a bust as most of the books had sexual overtones or were written for children. My mom has read ( and reread) most of the classics, so what is new in fiction for her to read? Thanks for your time.

The Celestine Prophecy by James Redfield (?) is amazing. It talks about spirituality and how everything in the world is connected. It's definitely a good book if your mom is a conservative Christian. Some inside the book may not agree with the teachings of the church but I think your mom would appreciate this. I certainly did.

How about books from Paulo Coelho? The Alchemist is great. One of my favorite ones is The Zahir. There are a lot of great names form Coelho. To name a few, there is Eleven Minutes, Veronica Decides to Die, The Valkyries, The Devil and Ms. Prym (a personal favorite), and his newest and latest one is Aleph. There are a lot more, of course.

How about books from Robert Fulghum? I know he isn't very knew but maybe your mom hasn't read his works yet. My mom loves him very much so.

I would also recommend books by Mark Haddon, but these are more about family. He only has two which are "The Curious Incident Of the Dog in the Night-time", which is for a younger audience but it's very likable, and "A Spot of Bother".

So far, those are the books I have on my shelf that your mom might like. I hope you find something for her, specially since Mother's Day is coming up :)

Try out anything by Dianna Wynne Jones, she write for teens-but not the barely-there plot and underdeveloped characters type. (She attended lecture by both JRR Tolkien and CS Lewis). Her worldbuilding is phenomenal and since they are books for teens (and she's from an older generation) there is zero sex and any violence is pretty mild. Her books are fantasy fiction and very good. Another teen author I'd reccomend is Patricia C Wrede, another very good and talented fantasy fiction writer.

(If your mom doesn't like fantasy, then sorry, nothing else comes to mind. I really love fantasy.)

Anything by Karen Kingsbury or Beverly Lewis. There are many Christian writers who write very well, but these are my favorites. Of all, "Unlocked" by Karen Kingsbury was my favorite.

If she likes romances, there is a publisher/ series called "Love Inspired". They are similar to what Harlequin romances used to be (no sex, plenty of romance) and they are faith-based. They're not great literature, but easy reading & have happy endings.
