Does anyone know how the Yale University Dormitory case....?

... of the 1990s when the ultraorthodox Jewish girl demanded to be release from the every freshman's commitment to live in the dorms turn out?

She knew she had to live in the dorms first year when when she applied, but once accepted she started whining that it was against the modesty laws of her religion, and tried to get an exemption.

Update:

Marc - I live in Israel and I call it whining at best. Here orthodox men are demanding special conditions that degrade other soldiers to do us the great big favor of serving in the amy. If a secular solider demanded parallel conditions (lets say not attending ceremonies where a rabbi would be present) they would be sentenced to 30 days in Jail 3. And a student certainly may request that his/her physical needs, if disabled be honoured. But co-ed dorm living was part of the picture. She knew that when she replied. Until close to the end of Apartheid, the Dutch Afrikaans Church forbade social interaction between Black and White. I don't think Yale would agree to one of them refusing to live with an African American student. Nor would they agree to a a member of Phreddie Felp's church if he refused to live with a Jews because "the Jews killed out Lord". No special privileges based on religion tor anyone. Period. She could have applied to Stern College or some Israeli U

The students sued and lost at trial and on appeal. The grounds were that they could have chosen another university. According to the source below, most of the Orthodox Jewish students at Yale did not support the cause of the students who sued.

Source(s): Yale Daily News, Jan. 12, 2001. Put Yale Jewish dormitory into google.com and the link is one of the first several links on the google page.

It sounds like it to me. The area i do no longer comprehend is why they took so long to start finding for Annie. They waited 4 days earlier the seek began. something is extremely incorrect with this entire ingredient. recent information on Annie's disappearance is they got here across the physique of a woman at the back of a wall. they are doing an post-mortem on it. Yale is in between the roughest areas of latest Haven. seems to me they might up their protection some notches seeing this has occurred.

While you might not agree with the Orthodox Jews' views on modesty, it's not "whining." That's called intolerance on your part. Every college student can make special requests for living arrangements.
