Why does the back of my brain feel so dead?

Hi, im a high school junior and on weekdays i only get 5 hrs of sleep. I just took the SAT on Saturday and ive had this feeling that my brain has been tightened. Right now im trying to study and do my hw, but i cant concentrate. It feels like my head is half dead. I got 7 hrs of sleep the night of the SAT but i woke up 3x. Last night i tried to get 9 hrs of sleep but I woke up with only 6 and 1/2 and couldnt fall back to sleep. What should I do, I want to be able to concentrate better. Should i take caffeine?

You need sleep, that's all. NO CAFFEINE. You need a couple days of 9-12 hours of sleep. People your age need around 8-10 hours of sleep a night, not 5! Your brain can't handle it anymore. If you find you can't sleep, try taking melatonin. It helps you get into a routine of sleep, they aren't really sleeping pills, so don't rely on them. Only use them about 3 or 4 times a week. They help with jet lag and such. Should help your situation. Here's a website about melatonin.

Source(s): I take melatonin myself when I have trouble sleeping. They don't leave you feeling crappy the next day like some sleeping pills do.
