PLEASE HELP. STRESSING OUT HARD!!!?

So. I'm a senior in high school.

A few months ago, I had a thing with this guy, we'll call him X. He was super adorable and into it, but I am really shy when it comes to hot guys so I didn't really ever initiate with him and he told my best friend that I didn't reciprocate the same feelings for him lol :(. So then he had a thing with this other girl for like a month, and two weeks ago they broke up. He went up to my friend during lunch and asked about me, and she told him what was new with me... I don't get why he wouldnt just ask that to me though. Then he went up to my friend a couple days ago in eEnglish and asked where my profile pic on FB was taken.

Now, senior ball is coming up and I have a back up but I don't really wanna take him lol.. I wanna take X. So I decided to initiate and send him a text saying Heyy X, whats upp. But I sent that last night at like 730 pm and he still hasn't replied. it's 920 am here now. and last night was the cinco de mayo so i know he may have been partying but DO YOU THINK HE''LL EVER REPLY???
