Ranking of a college and how good it is.?

You have to take those rankings with a grain of salt. Some of the criteria may not mean that much to you. So, for example, if you are a student who does better in small classes with lots of interaction with your teacher, than it may not be good for you to go to a highly ranked school (in most of those, freshman and sophomore classes are huge lecture sections). Much of the ranking is based on factors that only really impact graduate students. In fact, if you are a good student, the chances are that you're going to go to graduate school eventually. Once you do that, no one will care where you did your undergrad work. So it's really smarter to go to a school where you will really learn a lot as an undergraduate, and then go to the "name" school for your graduate program.

Whatever you do, the name of the university you graduate from only gets your foot in the door. Your success in life always depends on your performance- which is going to be enhanced more by what you learn in school than what school you go to.

1-50 would be considered the best schools, the most recognizable degrees that may help you get a job. 50-100 is still good, but not as impressive, and anything over 100 is not worth mentioning. Like you wouldn't brag about going to the school ranked "101st." I would say anything under 100 is good, over 100 is not so good.
