What important contribution do YOU feel that YOUR country has made to Test/International cricket?

Everybody contributes something, so don't be shy. England gave the game its rules, Australia gave the game technological advances such as stump cams etc , so, what do you feel that your country has contributed to the game?

English and Australian members can add their own thoughts rather than mine if they wish, or alternatively, they can expand upon what I said.

Please try to answer without taking the p!ss out of other nations.

No contribution except that the first international cricket match ever took place between the United States and Canada in 1844. The match happened in New York. That's a historical fact

And about 270 years later, the game is unknown anywhere in either of these 2 countries.

That historical scorecard is still preserved -

In addition to the comments above:

The English gave us the balmy army. Pisstaking as it should be done, funny, not malicious, and self depreciating at times. Great stuff. Shame this section can't adopt a similar approach.

The Australians gave us four and twenty meat pies in the stands, beer cup snakes in the crowd from 3pm onwards, Richie Benau the world's best commentator and a never say die attitude.

The Kiwis also show what never giving in means, and show how a small place can punch miles above its weight.

The West Indies gave us one of the greatest teams ever to grace the game. They've also given us some of the most picturesque venues.

South Africa. Newlands with table mountain in the background. Enough said. They keep everyone else on their toes.

Sri Lanka - from zero to WC Heroes in a short space of time. They delivered a new strong competitor to the sport.

India gave the game a steady supply of outstanding entertaining batsman. They have made cricket the second most followed sport after soccer.

Pakistan gave us the biggest six and the fastest ball, plus a long pedigree of batsman, bowlers and the world's greatest ever all-rounder.

The most number of cricket fans are from India.

  • My country, USA gave nothing to cricket, but I do know that Pakistani bowlers introduced Reverse Swing and Doosra delivery. Some idiots thought that the reverse swing was due to tampering, but they soon realized that it is actually a legitimate art and now everyone is trying to do it.

  • We gave the bad teams feel better. We bet australia in 1974 which was lucky and then when the **** teams beat us they feel good. NewZealands the the country.
