heartbreak over finals?

so i am a college freshman and i've been going out with somebody for the entire year, but it turns out he has dropped me in favor of a 38 year old fashion designer -- not even somebody our age but an established older woman who i've heard parades him around like a trophy. i have no idea what to do because i don't have anyone to support me, as our friends were his friends.

to top this off, it's finals week. i feel so despondent all i want to do is drink a bottle of wine and go to bed, and this is of course not possible. i need to be on my game but all i feel is overwhelming depression. my family is all over the world and is not really sympathetic. suggestions?

Chin up! Look, he's lost something great. Listen to some sappy music and feel sorry for yourself for a while but then look at your future and think about how long you want to be feeling sorry for yourself. The truth is, if you don't do good on your finals then you'll most likely end up with more self pity and it's a cycle with no end. So you need to decide when you want to stop, it can be later or it can be NOW! You obviously have some drive because you know what you need to do and you've asked for motivation. As for sympathy; some people are more patient with the horse they're betting on and willing to see every race through to the end and some people are looking for a quick buck on a fast horse. It seems you got yourself some people that like to make quick and easy bets. But I'm personally betting on you, win or lose whatever race because it seems to me like you win more than you lose.
