Does anybody remember a novel from the late 70s or early 80s titled "The Punishment"?

When i was in college I checked it out of the college library. I think that was the title, but I am not sure. It was about a strange family or strange group of people who meet on an island for some reason. It was really a weird book but that is all I can remember. I cant find anything searching.

Not sure, but would that be:

The Punishment by Doris Shannon Published: 1980?

"This book was a story about a troubled young woman who's mother takes her away from her present surroundings to a lighthouse on a small island off the coast of Maine. The lighthouse is owned by the mother's family and thus the story begins to unfold. The family is a bit strange at first but as the young girl spends time with them, they grow stranger and stranger and each one is hiding a secret. The young woman is on the edge in coping with her own problems that drove her to attempt suicide and as she learns more and more about the strange family, she begins to see things that aren't visible to other family members. There are so many twists and turns to this story you won't know the truth until the end of the book. It is a haunting, bone chilling story that will make you want to read it again and again"
