what does uncompress the firmware mean?
So my Augen tablet isn't starting (gets stuck on the penguin screen) but i found this website (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1... ) that says to uncompress the firmware after downloading it, can you tell me how to do that please?
@Alex Can you please explain to me how I would do everything else?

Firmware is a type of software. Some software, especially downloads containing numerous files, are compressed into different types of files. Think of compression like a suitcase - you put all the files in, and you can then give it to someone (you being the person that downloads or "receives" it).
To get the firmware in this digital suitcase, you have to decompress it. I went to the thread you mentioned and fortunately it is in .zip format, which is standard in Windows. Just double-click the .zip file and click the option on the left to extract the files into a different folder. Then you can use it just like anything else.
