88 Toyota Pickup Gear Ratio?

Would any one happen to know the STOCK rear end gear ratio on a 1988 Toyota pickup v6 4x4? I am guessing it would be a 4.10 but I am not sure. I am not about to take my rear end apart to find this out either. As far as I know the previous 2 owners did not make any modifications relating to off road usage.

I currently have 30 inch tires. I wanna go up to 35s soon.

    going to 35" will likely need a lift kit. fyi, 32-33" w/ 3" lift are easily used w/o any gear ratio or brake upgrades on this platform. unless you're doing serious off roading, it will be fine as is.

    to get 35" prolly go 3" lift @ least. no mods regarding gear ratio's there either for "dual" use.

    Well - jack up one rear wheel and chalk mark the tire at the bottom. (Do this safely with chocks and a jack stand). Put a chalk mark on the bottom of the drive shaft. Now turn it 4.10 revolutions and see if the tire mark is back at the bottom. The tire will go TWO revolutions since you are doubling through the diff. (one wheel up) 4.10 was probably the standard - but they also had 3.90, 4.30 and 4.556 available. (also 4.785 for big tires). If it is past the bottom (over 2 revs) you may have the 3.90. if it is less than 2 revs you probably have the 4.30 and so forth. if you are going up in tire size and want to do serious off roading - you better get some if the 4.556 or 4.875 gears.

    You might have broken torsion springs in the clutch plate. This happened to a Honda Prelude that I had. Are you sure the slave cylinder is travelling enough? Maybe the clutch is just not releasing all the way. Good luck on that.
