Why would protesters block an ambulance.?

I know that service delivery is the issue, but to stop an ambulance means to potentially hurt your own.

In this case someone did die.

Demonstrators, protesters and rioters often attack any person or vehicle which looks official. In Northern Ireland the IRA and Catholic mobs sometimes stoned ambulances - visiting there I saw ambulances with mesh over the windscreen and obviously strengthened panelling so that they looked like armoured vehicles. It was the only way they could get help to people in certain areas; and even then they often needed an armed escort to stop youths rocking and capsizing the vehicle.

Crowd reactions are not the same as individual ones. Any one of the people in those mobs, on his own, might have recognised that an ambulance is not a Saracen armoured car full of soldiers: as a crowd, they got carried away by the excitement of the moment and the desire to do harm where they could.

I expect the same happened in Africa.

They were inflicting harm and violence on others. This is not protesting. Protesters are supposed to be peaceful. These people are of the Islam faith (muslims) what do you expect? They're always killing each other.

They put their own selfish desires above everything else.
