Day one of my period. Blood was very dark red. Normally it's bright red?

What do you think is going on? I started my period today. Normally on day one my blood is bright red. Today I started and my blood was very dark red.

I'm in my 30's

    It's just waste (that's all your period is) so the color will change.....depending alot on what you have consumed previously also as the blood flow is waste being eliminated.

    Dark red is basically 'older' blood.
