I have Chronic Kidney Disease, can I donate blood?
I have been diagnosed with CKD, my kidney function is about 35%. I'm not on dialysis or anything like that. Pretty healthy and active but I'm curious if I'm allowed to donate blood?
I will ask my doctor during my next visit in 3 months, but was curious today.

Current donor eligibility guidelines require deferral of potential volunteer blood donors with a history of chronic renal disorders. You may, however, donate blood for your own use (autologous donation) with a physicians order.

Chronic kidney disease is very easy to have symptoms of anemia, so after giving blood is very easy to create the health effects, so don't suggest to donate blood.

I don't understand how your kidney only at 35% functioning, you're diagnosed with chronic kidney disease and you only have to go to dialysis 1 every 3 months???? Most people with any type of kidney disease, whether is Chronic or Accute have to go every 3 days at least. That doesn't sound right, unless you do peritoneal care. Anyways, I wouldn't donate blood because your kidneys filter and clean the blood in your body. If your kidneys are not filtering and cleaning your blood good, why would you give it to someone else??? You have a lot of toxins in your body that need to be eliminated, and its hard for your body to do this anyway. IDK though, you should ask your doctor, but it doesn't sound right to me anyway.

I had a kidney stone while I was pregnant it was horrible, I was in the hospital twice and put on morphine drip. Worst pain ever!
I was told my kidney stone was because I had too much calcium in my body. I was pregnant and increased my calcium like you are suppose too. I was drinking lots of milk, vitamins, and tums for heartburn ( which are calcium). So I had to stop taking all of those things even though I was pregnant.
I discovered this program and I was successful.

I'd have to say no. If your kidneys can't clean your blood it's unlikely they would take it at the blood bank.
Nice of you to think of that though, not enough people give blood.
