In less than a month, I'm going on a school trip to Washington D.C. (about 50 people) and I was wondering what are the places we should avoid and if you think we'll be safe?

The only criminals you have to worry about robbing you are in the capital building and they will get you no matter where you are. Have fun. Take a bus tour its a blast.

Nikki is correct. The stories about crime in DC are overblown, and only apply to ghetto areas that you'll be far away from. Tourists are completely safe.

You will be fine!!! I know it can be scary but the only bad place to go (anacostia) you would never go to! Have a great time, walk in groups especially at night !

There is so much that is beautiful, historic, deeply moving about our city that it is a shame so many people have the wrong idea about what it is like to visit here. Please do not worry about it. You will be perfectly safe!
