Pet parakeet returned to Japanese owner after telling police his address
SAGAMIHARA, Japan — A pet parakeet was returned to its Japanese owner Wednesday after the brainy bird told police its home address near Tokyo.
The male bird, called Piko-chan, escaped early Sunday morning from his home in the city of Sagamihara and remained at large before being coaxed into perching on the shoulder of a guest at a nearby hotel.
He was handed over to local police, but Piko-chan did not speak until Tuesday evening, when he blurted out the names of the city and district where his owner’s home is located, a police spokesman said.
The stunned cops then listened as the parakeet produced the home’s block and street number.
His owner, a 64-year-old woman, once lost another parakeet after it flew away and was determined not to make the same mistake.
“So the owner decided to teach the address to this parakeet after she bought it at a pet store two years ago,” a police spokesman said. “The bird’s name was found to be Piko-chan as it said, ‘You’re pretty, Piko-chan.”

I have a story :)
My Uncle had a dog that he had for years. He treats his dogs as if they were
his children. Well.. he had 3 dogs.
He had lived at his current residence for years. After 20 years .. he and his
lady decided to buy a house in a better neighborhood. Somehow .. his dog
ran off during the move. She never made it to the new place.
5 months later .. he was outside sitting on his porch .. when she (his lost dog)
came walking down his street. He said she looked as if she had been walking the
entire 5 months.
He says that she must have followed his scent and found him .. which
was miles and miles away.
I love it !! What a great reunion :D

Yes, that is a cute story. Animals and birds can be very smart and clever. I used to visit someone years ago who had a Cockatoo, and every time we'd sit down the bird would scream in a shrilly voice" hurry, the house is on fire, get me out!". I suppose in a real fire that would come in handy but it would drive everyone crazy when the bird would start. Sort of like the child who yelled wolf too many times.

Scooter I think it goes beyond cute, no offense, it's poignant, sad, happy for many, and a testament not only to the animal but those who care about them.
BTW I found the graduation pieces you shared and apoloize for late, but thank you so much.

That's a cool story. My conure would probably just say "Gimme kiss!" and "What ya doin', baby?" Then he would start squawking obnoxiously loud and follow it up with, "You're a bad, bad, bad, bad bird!"
I don't know where he picked up that last one.
