What colour is my horse?
This is my mare Kalypso in the picture below, and is probably the best picture I have that shows her true colour (most pictures turn out too dark or light to make a fair judgement). People have told me she's bay, brown, seal bay, liver chestnut, faded black, etc. I really want to know your opinions on what colour she truly is! She is a 14yr old Appendix mare (note the grey on her butt in the picture is just dust). In the winter she is almost a black colour with a hint of red and a brown muzzle and brown rings around both of her eyes. She's really cute- but what colour is she?!
I looked at the dark bays. She has NO black points at all in her. Here is another picture.

Almost 100% sure she is a liver chestnut. Notice the light colored pasterns in front, and the mane is the same color. No points, no variation in color, except near the coronet.
Seal brown is another possibility but to determine that a DNA test is needed. She seems a little too red to be a seal brown imo though, typically seals are more like a washed out brown.

The first pic looks like a seal brown. The second looks more like a liver chestnut, but that could be because of the sun. As a liver chestnut, shes very dark. As a seal brown, Bards right (ouch ;) shes pretty red. Gorgeous color none the less. My final answer is that shes a seal brown

Very very dark bay. So dark bay.
She is not black, but she is not a normal common bay. You can tell she is dark bay by the lighter shade of brown where her front leg is moved forwards. True black horses, have no bits of brown on them at all. They are just black.
Type in liver chestnut into google. She is nothing like that.
Type in bay into google. You will notice that they tend to be brown body with black mane and tail right? That is your common bay. She is dark bay. Type that in. You will notice the difference :)

Liver chestnut maybe?? Does she get lighter during the summer? My gelding is a liver chestnut... He looks almost black with just a few points of lighter brown during the winter and he gets a brown colour during the summer.

I wouldn't call her a dark bay because she doesn't have black points. My gelding is the exact same and he was simply advertised as "black/brown". If you want something exact, I've heard horses this colour also called "seal brown". If you google that, alot of the horses have a similar colour to yours.
