I have some potatoes with a "display until" date of the 7th of April can I still eat them?

They are inspire premium baking potatoes. I have had a good look at them and they look fine and they don't smell bad. They have been kept in a kitchen cupboard since I bought them.

Spuds will last for months if stored correctly and can see them going off, as they will begin to sprout and wither.

Don't keep them in the plastic bag though, as they will sweat and go green. Put them in a heavy multi layered paper bag, or the bottom drawer if you have one.

Are they mushy, moldy and stinky?

    If not they are fine.

    Potatoes keep for MONTHS.

that "display" thing is for stores only. They have to rotate their inventory.

When we grew our own, I dig them in October and we finished them off in early spring.

When stored properly(cool dry place) they WILL last for months.

ya know--some potatoes don't even have a date on them! they are fine as long as they aren't growing things or mushy--if you find some black parts-just cut them out...
