I come from a large family I am third youngest and my husband is 1st born, I was wondering what has happened to the sacred bond of family unity? There seems to be so much melow drama, fits of discord, rage, and sadly gossip and slander now a days.
Why does it seem like the family unit is falling apart?

It's hard to say without knowing more details. Sometimes underlying factors like breakups, underemployment, stress at work, etc can have an effect on people. Sometimes, people just change for no reason, and you have no choice but to accept it.
