Is studying demons bad/dangerous?
I have always been interested in the paranormal and thought for the longest time I just lived in a lot of haunted houses.
A few years ago I actually found out I am sensitive/mediumistic.
Demonology interests me and I want to research more on it but I know you have to be careful when dealing with things like that so I want to make sure before I start learning that I won't open any doors to negative entities.
Is it bad to research demons? I will in no way be dabbling in the occult, Wicca, or satanism...I just want to read up on demonology.

Sorry to burst your bubble, Sweetie, but if you are reading about the "occult" you are "dabbling". Those who are not "dabbling" are those who are actually practicing and living by the tenets that "dabblers" merely read about. But that's okay because Christian dogma allows dabbling just so long as you keep a healthy negative opinion front and center. In fact Christians really really like "dabblers" because the dabblers are their primary source of negative propaganda about devil worship, demon possession, ritual sacrifice, sexual orgies and contracts with Satan.
PS Neither Wiccans nor Satanists believe in demons, ghosts, or hauntings and the belief that certain people have special powers to see and speak with the dead or channel spirits or aliens is New Age spiritualism not Wicca or Satanism.

Wicca is a religion and demons are not part of our belief system, so obviously if you're studying demons it will have nothing to do with Wicca.
As for what doors you'll open... in my experience, people afraid of such things who start reading up/studying on them will usually find their imaginations running away with them for a while. You'll start seeing things in your dreams, imagining things, misinterpreting every creak of the building settling as a demon.
The imagination is VERY strong when the power of belief is behind it. If you give people fruit juice and tell them it is powerful alcohol, they act drunk because they believe they're drunk. Give sick people a placebo and they'll actually start to feel better, symptoms will go away for a while. So many studies have been done, it's unbelievable what people will do or see when they believe it.
So just be careful. You are probably going to be jumping at shadows for a while, whether anything is there or not.

Is it bad if people read a holy book? Is it bad if they research fairy tales or mythology?
Interesting that you posted this in the section that you did. I'm a little concerned that you're using this kind of stuff as an escape from real life and real problems.
It isn't harmful to read up on anything. All you're doing is reading. Reading doesn't hurt people and to think that reading something can be harmful is slightly paranoid and a bit delusional.
Try not to get too engrossed in this stuff, not because I think it's "evil" or "dangerous", because I don't, I give it as much stock as people studying and reading up on religion(I'm an atheist by the way). I just think that the more you become engrossed in it, the more you're missing being engaged in the world right in front of you.

No, why would knowledge be bad or dangerous?

Satanists? They deny all things supernatural like demons and occultism. I know I have read the satanic Bible and have friends who are Satanists

If you aren't practicing it I don't see the danger
