Hairless rat owners please!?

My hairless had 6 pups today but only 1 survived.i wonder if she was suffocating them or somethin'..but i save this 1 pup,i am keeping her warm and i wonder if i could pull off raising her myself or should i trust the mother?i have heard from most hairless rat owners they have raised the pups themselves because hairless rats aren't supposed to be good at feeding the pups(not good at producing milk or whatever..)what should i do?!

Leave with mom. She knows more for there wellness then you do (naturally). understand if the mom is underweight, too young or two old, or sick, stressed, have bright lights/loud noises or if you bother her during the birthing process some babies will die. give the baby back and dont worry about leaving your scent on it. Rats really are impartial to that kind of thing as long as the rat already knows you. I had a mom who recently had only one pup and it died. Fed the baby to my spider and she got prego again very fast. had a clutch of 14. 2 died. Its nature for things to die and if you cant deal with death then you shouldn't be considering breeding. Give pup back to mom and wish it lock and check up on it every now and again. The mom wont suffocate the baby it will whimper to tell the mom to get off if it was. For looks like smothering sometimes is actually just giving milk. In the sad event the pup does die, Give mom a week or two to recover and try breeding again. Best of luck.
