How do I keep the birds from pooping on my mailbox?

Put something sticky where they perch. Some kind of glue or rubber cement that doesn't harden. Or remove the house number sign and put numbers on the side of the box. Please don't disturb their nest. They need a home too.

Another thought: Pet stores have a spray to keep animals away. Try spraying that on the mailbox and see what happens. Good luck.

Get some sort of fake bird like an owl and either place on top of mail box or nearby. It really works, thats how i keep them off of my boat i used to have the same problem, and then a friend told me to get an owl and it worked, so try it.

In california you can see these needle like projections on top of poles, roofs, signs and such that prevent the birds from landing because of the sharp needle-like projections. You might research where to get the material.

Like an electric fence you should have it conducting electricity and if the birds perch there spray water on it and watch the show.

put an umbrella over your mailbox, wrap the entire mailbox in plastic, move the mailbox to your front porch, ask them very nicely to stop defecating on your mailbox.
