14th amendment says we need to treat people equally.

Opponents would have much more ground to stand on if they also supported getting government completely out of the marriage benefit incentive game.

Healthcare ensures that you will live - which is why it is illegal to refuse treatment to anyone and a big reason for the high cost of healthcare - since many cannot afford it and leave everyone else holding the bag.
