    They breathe through gills attached to the underside of the last pair of abdominal legs.

    The reproduction process:

    The female releases a pheromone to attract males. If more than one male reaches the female, they will fight until the winner remains. Once females remove their hard exoskeleton, she is able to mate. Then the male passes sperm to the female through a structure called a spermatophore. The female keeps the fertilized eggs in a pouch in her abdomen until they hatch, which may take up to a year. Then, once the eggs are ready, she beats her abdomen to facilitate hatching.

    And they typically live in cold seas.
