How can Americans wrest control of their democracy away from old fuddy-duddy Christians?
I heard recently that voter turnout to elections in the USA rarely gets over 55% of the eligible populace. And of that 55%, the majority are old people and retirees. So the USA has a system where a minority of whining old windbags, scared to death of change, are controlling the lives of the majority of Americans. This explains why the centre of American politics has been dragged way to far to the right, the side of politics traditionally favored by old fuddy-duddy Christians. How can this be changed? Would holding elections on the weekend be better? Or how about internet voting? Or allowing voting to be carried out over the course of a week instead of just one day?

Americans do not have a democracy, We have a Republic and if you were an American you would know that. This nation was founded on Christian principles. You need to grow up and become an old fuddy-duddy and then see what your perspective is after becoming an informed mature senior citizen. You and those of your ilk will never do anything constructive or positive. You will only whine and complain that we are bound by constitutional law. You will never change anything to your satisfaction because men of good will will never conform to your world view.

How about just getting the younger non patriotic people to vote, if they are so concerned with the status. No one is stopping them from voting, yet they are the one crying the loudest about how things are.
The old fuddy duddys are patriotic, and love America, especially the way it was, before people started down trodding it, and treating our nation like dirt. Once there was a nation of people who cared about their Country, and did things to make it better. Now we have a nation of people who have their hands out wanting wanting wanting....and not giving anything in return.
Those "scared to death of Change" are the ones out there voting. Those who want to destroy American Democracy, including religion, are the ones who are NOT voting, they are wanting things to be handed to them, the non democratic way. Give me, give me....
Just How did you want the nation changed? To start by ruling out Religion, which is one of our Constitution guarantees? That would mean changing the Constitution, but what the heck, do it. And while at it, change it so that only a certain RACE can be in America...and the old have to be put down at a certain age, like at 55 years old.
What you are asking, is to destroy Democracy, and all because you do not like ...religion. Is it really worth the doing? Sacrifice our good Freedom so that you and others can live in a world without religion? And also in a world where you would soon wish religion was the only thing you had a problem with....for once Democracy is gone, so is YOUR freedom...
Us old fuddy duddy's have the freedom to go out and Vote...and we do. That, is Democracy.

These old fuddy-duddy Christians are going to elect an old fuddy-duddy Christian to represent them in the government. Maybe not this upcoming election, buy possibly the next.
Then very soon after that, when the "religious right" really get all power, they will change the Constitution and pass a law to enforce Sunday Worship (This IS the Mark of the Beast)
So, watcha gunna do, & who you gunna call ? ? ?
The AntiChrist ?

Hun most of the people I have seen show up for voting are not old fuddy-duddys at all
As for weekend elections na you would never get younger people to give up weekends to vote. besisde many companies allow time off to vote. As for internet voting in what way would anybody be proven to have a right to vote especially since the internet encurages fraud.
btw do you vote or just look at statistics and think they are valid?

You make some pretty good points,...but
I'll have to tell you that,... anybody that thinks that the real power and influence in America
rests in the hands of any of it's regular citizen's has NOT done their homework.
Their was already an ancient destiny for the new world before it became known as America.
And this plan was to utilize it as a "stepping stone" to perpetuate a One World System.
And today (with enough research) we can see this is well underway.
If anybody wants to wrest control of this democracy,...you must first take it from
the most powerful families in the modern world.
I'll give you a hint : they aren't Christian's (even if they appear or claim to be).

The US is not a democracy, majority tyranny is unacceptable. Rather we are a Federated Republic where all groups are represented equally. If you characterize American politics as far right I may freak out. We are middling with a strong lean to the left. Our two solitudes battle constantly for control (Republicans and Democrats). But sadly as the years go on we become more and more liberal because the liberal platform rests on the simple premise of "Free healthcare and other lollipops." The low voter turnout is a reflection of the lack of care which Americans have for government which I attribute to our love of freedom and disdain for control.

the powers that be in this country are not cristian nor do they answer to the voters
as far as majority the USA is now a Hispanic majority and with that will soon me a Catholic majority and there is nothing you can do about it

The words you use give you away as one who was once at least associated with christianity.
But anyway, I love God and want to make him happy more and more. I think that this world would be perfect if we all could surrender our wants and desires into his wants and desires and live according to his will. Man, that would be great. God is so awesome and his love for us is matchless compared to any other sort of earthy love.
I am excitedly waiting the day that we christians get to go into his kingdom and take our place with him.

I must admit that when you insult the Founding Fathers it bothers me :
What The Founding Fathers Said
Political Science professors at the University of Houston wondered if there was something unique about the government of the U.S. They gathered 15,000 quotes from the Founders and located where all of them came from. They then boiled that down to 3,154 quotes that had significant impact on the founding of America. It took them 10 years to finish the project, but they found that the three men most quoted by the Founding fathers were Blackstone, Montesquieu, and John Locke. They also found that the Bible was quoted: 4 times more often than Montesquieu, 12 times more often than Blackstone, and 16 times more often than Locke.
Additionally, 34% of all quotes were from the Bible, and another 60% of the quotes were from men who were using the Bible to arrive at their conclusions. Added together, 94% of all the quotes of the Founders had their origin in the Bible

lol. simple, mob rule. get a majority! a democracy is not a republic. so because my values are conservative-esque, im an old die-hard religious whacko? im actually in mid twenties, more libertarian than i was. but if you ask me i think the whole system needs to be abolished. government came from God but tyranny came from men and it always will until mashiack nagid is heading the nations.
