Nanjing? I think that's the place where all those Nationalist Chinese were slaughtered by the Japanese in 1937, and this tragic event was actually CELEBRATED by the Mao Zedong led CCP at that time. Later, the Nationalists ultimately fought back (with the full might of the Western Allies) to retake China from the Japanese.
So.......
When did your PRC history (propaganda) books change THEIR viewpoint on these events to indicate that the CCP had anything at all to do with saving China from the Japanese invasion, and when it was that they suddenly became enraged at the damaged inflicted on those Nationalist Chinese citizens who were struggling to defend it?
The CCP wasn't even there in Nanjing; they were off partying elsewhere and kissing the USSR's a$$ so they could obtain weapons to attack their fellow Chinese! The theme certainly hasn't changed in 60 years; the PRC is still preparing to attack "their brothers" living on Taiwan by procuring Russian military equipment.
When thinking of the CCP/PRC in relation to Nanjing, the term "Backstabbing snake-in-the-grass historical revisionist glory hounds" comes to mind.

Nanjing used to be the capital of China under the Kuomintang Nationalist government.
When Mao and the PLA kicked them off into Formosa at the end of the Chinese civil war, they renamed that island Taiwan and placed their capital in Taipei.
You are looking at two entirely different geographical locations here.
