How do you make a video out of clips ?

You have MAC, that part is understood. Unless you have went out and spent about a month's salary on FCP, I will make small bet that iMovie is on your computer. If it is, this how this done.

Make sure all the required clips you need are on your computer's hard drives. Now open iMovie (NLE). Put the videos, in the order you want and need them, on the timeline of the NLE. I do not know what iMovie can do, but maybe it can mute the audio attached to a clip or maybe to the whole line on the timeline. If needed, add a audio (Music) to the timeline, Hey, it's your video, do what you want. Editing video is time consuming, but in the end worth it. Have Fun.

im not sure with mac, as i use windows movie maker. try searching on google for the one thats suitablw for mac, maybe imovie? i thinks thats free. whatever software you use, will be set up like a timeline for you to dray/copy and paste clips into it, with other options such as music and cutting.
