How does punishment affect behavior, and what is the difference between punishment and negative reinforcement?

    Negative reinforcement only harbors hate, revengeful actions against the perpetrator, and usually dose not stop any bad or poor actions in society. Punishment on the other hand * with a reasonable person can/dose register when they realize they were wrong, and even sometimes deserve such and such a punishment.

    Source(s): Exactly why when I punished any child, I explained clearly why and the reasons behind the scolding or said why I took away a privilege, **never hitting anyone or being abusive verbally either. Hitting is negative reinforcement, *making any fearful is just plain *abusive.
