Ideas for things to make rings out of?

I have a bag of nearly 100 ring bases sitting in my closet but I have no idea what to do with them. I've already made rings from ribbon bows, seashells, buttons, and fabric flowers, but that starts to get boring after a while. what else can I make rings out of? i'm not so good with beading, so please no beading suggestions. and please stuff that i can wear around town that won't be too weird or childish.

You can also make the focal parts from polymer clay (or other clays).

Polymer clay can be made any size and shape, as well as made to look just like many other materials (metal, wood, semi-precious stones and ivory, rock, and many more).

It can also be made to look elegant to funky or "cutesy," brightly-colored to using more subtle colors, with all kinds of patterns and/or textures or stampings into the clay, with onlays or inlays, etc, etc, etc.

You could make those focal bits shaped like "beads" (but presumably without a hole since you'll be mounting each one rather than stringing it), or you can make them as small miniatures like teens make "charms" these days, or from molds, etc, etc.

Whole rings can be made only with polymer clay too... your choice.

Check out some stuff about making polymer clay rings on this page at my site:

http://glassattic.com/polymer/jewelry.htm > RINGS (sorry, not all the links work tho)

And here are MANY pictures of examples of polymer clay rings:

You can also find loads of info on making "charms" to use for rings/etc, using (and making) molds, texturing and stamping, making all kinds of patterns with polymer clay, etc, here:

    http://glassattic.com/polymer/contents.htm

. . . just to to that page, then click on the following categories from inside the alphabetical navigation bar:

    ...Molds

    ...Texturing

    ...Stamping

    ...Beads

    ...Onlay

    ...Canes-Instr.

and also this one for "charms" to use on rings:
