Is 2.0 mbps good enough for multiple computers?
i just ran a speedtest for my current isp. it came out to be (.25 Mbps downloading and .07 Mbps uploading). its frontier btw. Anyways back to the question. I live in a rural area so broadband and DSL are out of the question. I was looking at Hughesnet which gets a max of 2.0 download speed. My question is would that be enough to run 2/3 laptops and 2 consoles for online gaming?

it sucks that you don't have cable/DSL
The hughesnet will def faster than your current connection. if you are running all those device at the same time you might experience some lag for the online game. problem is max 2.0 doesn't means you get 2.0 all the time. Unless you have a dedicated line, the 2.0 is shared by the people in your area
It will be a great upgrade from dial up though

That .25 Mbps downloading and .07 Mbps uploading is probably dialup...
For remote rural areas the only good option is HughesNet.
And yes, 2.0Mb/s should be good enough for Internet access for multiple computers.
Online game playing and very big file downloads may be a little slow, but that's your only option.
The only downsize to HughesNet is the same as for satellite TV, you will lose signal in inclement weather (storms, snow showers, etc)

I think this is hilarious because I remember back when dial-up was the norm. Really, dial-up isn't horrible for gaming though. Games dont typically send so much data that you need to have massive download/upload speeds to run games. What you need is a low latency (which dial-up usually has). I would believe that your setup should run fine. You might lag a bit since it's Hughesnet (which is satellite internet if I remember correctly) and latency is typically high with these kinds of connections since the signal literally goes to space and back.

Hughesnet is the WORST, don't get there service!! my internet goes out on me like crazy, I have called hughesnet technical support so many times, i know exactly what they are gonna ask me and tell me to d, It will work for like 15 min and 15 min after I hang up with them, my internet is out again!. And you can not cancel if they aren't providing service(i tried) it would have cost me like 480 bucks! Seriously the worst internet provider, I would have way rather not paid the 60 bucks a month for their service and just gone down to the local coffee house to do my homeweork.
