What fish are you keeping? What's your pH reading? The vast majority of common fish are pretty tolerant of pH levels and trying to meddle with them is more likely to kill your fish than leaving it be!

Ph down is like battery acid, you really wanna be pouring that in your tank? Trying to adjust with chemicals is never going to work and be consistent anyway. No professionals touch that stuff! They use RO mixes or peat filtration to lower pH.

Don't listen to pet stores. They try to sell only. I had the same problem for my reef. Your tank is probably in a room that doesn't get much air (oxygen) Which creates more carbon dioxide which keeps pH down. Open a window near the tank and in a few hours test again. I open my window every so often to get more air and my pH stays at a normal 8.3 hope this helps kirstie. My problem is that my pH was too low. But this should work for you also. Make sure your other water chemistry is up to par also. Everything goes hand in hand.

    1. stop adding products to change the pH, you do not need to change the pH.

    2. look up cycling a fish tank, and questions here like "why did all my fish die" for more info.
