The onboard seems to be a competent solution, with checksum offloading and all sorts.

Unlikely you'd actually need the Gigabit capability for browsing/download unless you have a super high speed broadband, but it's going to be the more efficient even when running at 100

This is one area where onboards are NOT the poor relation, they are as good as a card of the same specification.

Intel(R) 82578DC Gigabit Network Connection Network Adapter?

much faster but your actual Internet download speed will no doubt be well beneath both of these capabilities so it doesn't matter both of them will give you max speed capabilities but the Gigabit network connection adapter has a higher overall down speed then the pci adapter

    www.speedtest.net

test your speed here and check if it is below both of these adapters range.

i suggest using the one that is easier to set up because both are good for anyone in Australia without Fibre optics,

The Gigabit adapter is far faster, but it will make NO difference to Internet use as no connection it faster than either. your Internet connection bandwidth is only going to be 40 Mbps at most, on fibre optic service, and probably much less. Newer fibre connections are up to 80 Mbps, but these are rare, and still slower than the 100 Mbps card.

you will could desire to purchase a instantaneous PCI adapter or a USB adapter. i offered a Linksys kind WMP54G from Walmart for fifty dollars and it works tremendously lots. installation that's user-friendly, merely study the simplified instruction manual that incorporates it and you have gotten the means to place in it.
