Can I give my dog Visine eye drops?
So Japanese eye drop medicine for dogs doesn't work. And my dog (basset) has serious eye sleepy problems. He gets so much in his eyes he can't really see sometimes. So. since eyes are eyes humans or dogs, would it be OK to give him people eye drops? Visine eye drops.

ABSOLUTELY NO WAY!!! The cause of this irritation should be identified, and treated properly, by A VET. Bassets, unfortunately do sometimes have eye conditions, often caused by either entropion (the upper lid turned in on the eye, or the reverse, ectropion where the lid, usually the lower one turns outward, leaving the conjunctivia exposed to the risk of conjunctivitis. Some lines of Bassets also suffer with glaucoma (increased pressed usually due to poor drainage angles although glaucoma can have other causes).
All of this needs to be checked by your vet - and a PROPER dog eye medication prescribed. If you use human, or other unprescribed medication in these eyes, you could well be making the condition worse, or even risk him becoming blind.
VET - ASAP.

No do not use any human eye drops on any dog unless recommended by a vet. What you can do is use a cool wet tea bag to clean your dog's eyes. Either normal black tea or Chamomile tea is fine.
If this doesn't improve things within a day or so you need to take the dog to a vet because he probably has an infection that requires antibiotic drops or ointment.

I really don't think you should since dogs are not made the same as humans... an eye is an eye but dogs do see different colors than humans ...

No home remedies. Have a vet diagnose the problem and tell you how to treat it. Do not use people medication for dogs unless the vet says to. The doses are different.

Same treatment as you would for humans with 'Sleepy Eyes' or 'Conjunctivitis. When my Jack Russel gets a buildup of eye snot, get a warm moist flannel make sure its not soaking, dampen around his eyes, and gently help clean it for him.
Id be interested to know if your dog gets super lovely after you clean his eyes. My Jack russel goes all soppy and lovely when i do this haha. Best of luck x
