My optician dilemma regarding eye sight test results?

I have finished with my original opticians I have since i was first diagnosed with short-sightedness when I was 9 years old, I have left this optician because they are more about selling bells and whistles that you either don't need or want for business purposes and it doesn't help that they possess poor quality testings in eye exams in comparison to other opticians.

Since then (im 27 years old) and it had been 3 years since my last eye examination, that was with my last optician, afterwards I gave the prescription to an online glasses maker which I have worn these glasses since.

Last week I had booked 2 different opticians for my eye examinations on the same day! 2 hours apart from each other, where I then got fresh air and outdoors between each appointment.

Optician A, Vision express; was recommended by a close friend who has been there for years and I got the following results:

Right eye: Sph -4.25 Cyl -0.50 Axis 105

Left eye: Sph -5.25 Cyl -0.25 Axis 90

Optician B, Boots, recommended by many of my mum's friends:

Right eye: Sph -4.00 Cyl -0.75 Axis 105

Left eye: Sph -5.25 Cyl -0.25 Axis 55

As my left eye has clearly got worse in both exams and my astigmatism has to, the conclusion is that I need new "stronger" glasses to get through the day.

I am worried about my astigmatism results (Cyl and Axis data) as they are conflicting each other especially the Axis!

I need new glasses made soon but I dont know what to do? do I use Optician A or Optician B results to base my glasses prescription on?

Does this really matter or am I being pedantic?

Should I have a third optician eye test? or will this confuse me more?

Is my Astigmatism mild, moderate or bad?

Anything else you would like to add would be super, as I am no expert in optometry!

Update:

Date of prescription: September 2008:

Sphere (SPH) Cylinder (CYL) Axis Near addition (ADD)

Right eye -4.00 -0.50 99

Left eye -5.00 -0.50 110

Extra information 24/12

Date of prescription: February 2010:

Sphere (SPH) Cylinder (CYL) Axis Near addition (ADD)

Right eye -4.00 -0.50 100.0

Left eye -4.75 -0.50 45.0

I hope this additional info helps.

since you have been wearing the 45 axis in your left eye most recently, I would continue on with the one that is most similiar to that, option B.

However, the cyl in the left eye is so light, i believe that the difference will be beyond human perception. you won't notice the difference.

optics are highly psychological. if you are all paranoid like this, nothing will seem right. fo real.

You have to remember that the prescription is based primarily on your responses as to which of the views the optician presents is clearer, so your responses may have been different at each of the two tests.

Best option would be to get the glasses made by one of the opticians (rather than going online) so that if your vision is crisp through the glasses, they'll be willing to check your prescription/glasses.

We can not advise you since we don't know your old prescription. You do not seem to know your old prescription either.

The two prescriptions are almost the same except for the axis in the left eye.

Why don't you get a third examination. That way you will have a trilemma.

there's no quite a big difference between optician A's result and B's. choosing either of them won't harm you eyesight, even eyestrain will unlikely be feeled in any of them. there's no need to be concerned about these results, either of them are pretty quite close to the exact prescription you actually need.

and you have a very mild astigmatism, no big deal.
