Nothing at all. The microwaves radiations have a wavelength that prevents them from escaping through the metallic mesh of the door window or though the metallic frame.
That said, there is a bright light bulb inside (usually) and staring at one would be the same as staring at any other brightly lit light-bulb, which is not a very clever thing to do.

The shielding on a microwave over is NEVER perfect. The protective mesh in the door will allow SOME energy to pass through. The safety standard allows for low level exposure, but some people are extremely sensitive.

Nothing will happen if the oven is functioning correctly.
Generally speaking the body is most susceptible at VHF frequencies. At microwave frequencies, and at power levels that cannot burn, the danger is to the eyes, causing cataracts is the worst cases.

Nothing should have happened.
There is no danger in looking directly at a microwave as long as the protectibe shield is in place behind the glass in the door.
If your eyes don't hurt when you look at it she is putting you on.

The microwave radiation causes water molecules in food to evaporate, which cooks the food. If you are too close to a microwave, it has the same effect on you, which can cause damage to your tissues including the eyes. However, this damage usually takes decades to become apparent, and definitely should not hurt right away. Maybe your microwave produces too much radiation?

nothing happens because radiation is contained. even the window has metal screen that blocks the radiation. there are openings in the screens so you can look at the cooking progress but the pin holes are too small to let the microwaves through.

A microwave oven you mean? Maybe it's faulty or broken or it's not airtightly sealed. Get rid of it before it's too late!
