Arm numbness and breastfeeding?
Recently my arm has started to feel numb and tingly. I Googled why it could be and in the suggestions it said 'arm numbness and breastfeeding'. So I'm wondering if that could be why? Has anyone experienced this?
It just feels like I'm life song control of my left arm and it wants to 'drop dead'. Today I found a bruise on it. I woke up in the middle of the night one night and it was like a noodle and i had absolutely no control over it. Sometimes if i sit up it goes away but I feel like i can never lie down without it feeling numb. Help!? Thanks!

IF it could be related to nursing it would be due to a repetitive position you are using that is putting pressure on a nerve. If you are bedsharing & sleeping with that arm under your head that could do it too. It would be helpful to know if you are using good support while nursing (pillow & such) and if you are bedsharing & any other info you may have since you are the best one to know your own routine & look for places you may be accidentally putting pressure on that arm. Also how old is baby & how long have you been having this issue?

i have heard that if you consistently let a specific part of your body get numb and don't do something to soothe it immediately, the nerves in that area might get damaged. definitely see a doctor about this. i make a point of removing my arm under my baby's head/back, so that he ends up resting on my thigh/belly for the rest of the session, whenever it takes too long and i suspect numbness.

I had that a little while ago. do you feed your baby lying down ?
I went to my gp about it & she said its a nerve in your neck that makes the arm numb. because of the position i was lying in to feed my babe it would always go numb..
I changed positions for a while now I feed laying down again & it hasn't come back.

She should try drinking more water and eating slightly more carbohydrates. She should continue to breastfeed as it is the best for the child. Doctors know a lot but not all, have you tried talking to a homeopathic expert? I normally don't like the "granola" type care but it often has a lot of wonderful and accurate remedies.

That is neurological and unrelated to breastfeeding. See a doctor asap.

I had this when I was pregnant and it was caused by carpal tunnel from the swelling. After birth I had pain in my wrist and the doctor said it was caused by "mommy wrist.".
