bleeding after medical abortion question?
I had a medical abortion a little over a week ago. As time has gone on, my bleeding has gotten heavier. I'm changing my pad once an hour, it's not soaked, maybe half way? But every time I go to the bathroom I bleed heavily. Past 2 nights I got a steady 4 hours of sleep and woke to find a completely soaked pad. It's hard to go out and do anything, because I can feel myself bleed from time to time.
I just had my check up, and nothing seemed to be wrong, all the tests came back okay. I've looked on Forum's and other places, and people have a lot of issue's with bleeding. I just want to know if my amount of bleeding is okay, or not okay. My doctors didn't really give me a yes or a no.
So, changing pad because its half full in an hour, bleeding heavily when using the bathroom, and soaking a pad completly in 4 hours.
( i have no cramping or pains )

I would suggest going to a real doctor (not just the clinic where the procedure was done) and if you feel the bleeding is excessively heavy get to the nearest hospital immediately. Bleeding is not uncommon, excessive bleeding is and could indicate something more serious such as a perforated uterus (which is also not uncommon). Even if it turns out to be "normal" bleeding this is not something you want to take a wait and see approach to.

After an abortion, a woman will bleed for 7 to 14 days. It is usually like a period. Some women have heavy bleeding, while others have light spotting.
The amount of bleeding that a woman has will be greater with medical abortion than with surgical abortion. Most women have cramps for several hours, and many pass blood clots as they are aborting. In some cases, the blood clots will be larger than the embryo and other tissue from the pregnancy which will also be passed, and the embryo will probably not be seen among the blood clots. For example, at 49 days LMP, the size of the embryo will be about one-fifth of an inch. In an earlier pregnancy, it might be much smaller than that. Cramps and bleeding usually begin to ease after the embryonic tissue has been passed, but bleeding may last for one to two weeks after medical abortion.
Some women report that their first regular menstrual period after a medical abortion is heavier, or longer, or in some other way different from normal for them. By the second period after the abortion, their cycles should be back to normal.
(in my opinion, the more bleeding, the more embryo coming out, I think, therefore it is faster) I guess)

Hi there,
Yes, heavy bleeding after a medical abortion is normal. If it intensifies from what it is now, go to the doctor, or at least call the clinic and ask. It's possible to hemmorage and bleed too much, but that is very rare.
Best of luck.
