I'm a published photographer, i work at critter cafe (boarding kennel for dogs/shop), and compose piano music in my spare time. I try to keep pretty busy in what I do, for it is all under the best intentions.

  • Have to leave new dog for 3 days, suggestions?

I have to go away for 3 days, and I always leave my dogs home w/a sitter. I have a new dog, a 3lb abused "pocket pet" chihuahua. She's very shy still, not aggressive but still learning a new life. (we're teaching her real dog habits, its amazing to see her learn!) But, I'm not sure if I should leave her at home with the others, she's hasn't met anyone new, and doesn't have trust for much. I'm concerned of her doing potties outside and being afraid to come in, which ends up in a scary situation for a dog like her. And her not pottying at all from fear. (that happened when we first got her) I'm concerned about taking her to a friends house, because it'll be another new place, new face new sounds... etc. She's made a LOT of progress and I would hate for her to be set back, or learn a new fear. I'm really conflicted on what I should do for her, and what the best option would be. So I am here looking for suggestions. All I've gotten so far is oh jeeze... I don't know. LOL That doesn't help me much!

    Thanks in advance :)

  • Fleas on Ferret Need Help?

I live on an Island and it had a BAD flea outbreak, and I am still dealing with an infestation in my home. My ferret has free roam of the house with my other animals, and as they are all on flea treatments, my ferret is picking them up the worst. She doesn't have a cage so I can't cage her. Is there a product out there for ferrets that works wonders for fleas? Also, I am having to bathe her with dish soap every few days ( which i KNOW you aren't supposed to do) but I have to right now because she's picking up fleas so bad right now. So i could really use some immediate help from other ferret owners.

  • Trying to conceive...but having doubts waiting for pregnancy test.?

Point blank, I'm having a nervous breakdown. I want to be pregnant SO badly, but I am fearing I am not. My period isn't due for a few more days, and I've anxiously tested twice. Out of anxiousness, I tested way too early and got a negative result. ( because the last time I got pregnant I tested 2 weeks before my period was due and got a positive result..but I just knew.. ) I tested poorly last night, but with very little urine but I just had to. Negative. :( I'm getting discouraged.

My body isn't totally off whack either, but I am feeling nauseous at the same time every day, and its been like that for 3/4 days now. A few times during the day I would get a throw up feeling in my mouth, but its not been regular. I don't feel like I can taste much, and usually am having a nasty taste in my mouth even after brushing my teeth. I'm starting to feel bloated, which I always bloat real bad before my period so I'm nervous. But I also feel like my stomach is tighter, not just bloated.

Not having any breast tenderness, but I never did with my other pregnancies until second trimester, so I'm not really going on that, even though all are different. I'm just losing my grip/mind here caused I've tested twice now and got negatives. (although i did use the cheapest test I could find..) I didn't test the best way I could have either times and still way early..but I'm starting to convince myself that its just not meant to be and this is all in my head.

So my question is to any of you.. have you been through this like this? Does it sound like I may be pregnant or just nerves, mind games and period bloating? If I've tested twice and got a negative should I pretty much shut up and give up? I hate this waiting game......

  • Different pregnancy symptoms because of Different partners?

I have a question out of my curiosity. I know all pregnancies for women are different, but my question is can MY symptoms be different with a pregnancy because of the partner? I have two daughters from my ex husband, and both pregnancies were almost flawless in similarity. Symptoms were the same, cravings, etc.

I miscarried with my last partner ( which ended up breaking the reltionship ) but while I was pregnant my symptoms and experiences were totally different than my first two.

My husband and I now are expecting, and again my symptoms are totally different than the others.

So I'm curious if any one knows if symptoms can be different because of the partner you are with, and its not because of your body and how your body handles pregnancies.

    Did that make sense?

  • Two wiiu's for two kids.. worth it ?

My ex-husband went and bought two WiiU's for my kids for Christmas, with the mind set that they were like a DSI type of system. I have one TV, and already have a Wii. My kids aren't really into the WiiU's and they aren't opened yet. Is it really that worth it to set up the WiiU ? Do I need two of them for two kids? Is it really worth it??

  • bleeding after medical abortion question?

I had a medical abortion a little over a week ago. As time has gone on, my bleeding has gotten heavier. I'm changing my pad once an hour, it's not soaked, maybe half way? But every time I go to the bathroom I bleed heavily. Past 2 nights I got a steady 4 hours of sleep and woke to find a completely soaked pad. It's hard to go out and do anything, because I can feel myself bleed from time to time.

I just had my check up, and nothing seemed to be wrong, all the tests came back okay. I've looked on Forum's and other places, and people have a lot of issue's with bleeding. I just want to know if my amount of bleeding is okay, or not okay. My doctors didn't really give me a yes or a no.

So, changing pad because its half full in an hour, bleeding heavily when using the bathroom, and soaking a pad completly in 4 hours.

( i have no cramping or pains )

  • Different ways the abortion pill is given? -a curious study?

I have a question. I have been doing research on the Abortion Pill for quite some time now, (for personal and school reasons both) and I pretty much have found everything I need to know, want to know, etc. The only question I do have, that I haven't been able to find the answer to maybe I can find here. I've noticed that the abortion pill is given differently based on clinic's. The pill sites themselves say 3 pills first visit, 2 pills second visit. Planned Parenthood sites, say 1 pill first visit, and you take the oral 4 pills 24 hours later. A few womens clinic's say 2 pills first visit, and 2-4 pills second visit or at home. So I am really curious as to a few things. A: is this method all that effective if it can be taken so differently based on Clinic's? Is the out come the same, percentage wise despite the different ways of taking these pills? And why would the pills be given differently based on clinic's? Most medications I believe are all taken the same way, for doctors office to doctors office. So something this .. big .. for your body to go through, why are the ways of taking this so different?

  • Cheap clumping cat litter has been a bad idea, now whole house smells like ammonia, HELP?

I have 4 indoor cats and I clean the box regularly. I had recently purchased some cheap cat litter from the local grocery store due to finances. I filled my cat boxes, and left for vacation. My pet sitter cleaned the boxes daily, and when I came home the cat urine smell was SO strong I've had to open up my house every single day, it's almost been toxic. I couldn't figure out what was going on, until I cleaned the litter box myself, to find that the cheap cat litter makes the clumps fall apart in an instant, leaving the pee smell stronger than I have ever smelled in my life, and it's whats making my whole house reek. It's so bad when I run the a/c it picks up the smell through the a/c which ultimatly makes my entire house smell.

Now its to the point where I can't run the a/c. This is a disaster and its just destroying everything.

I've just cleaned out all my litter boxes and replaced it with fresh arm n hammer cat litter (which works wonders) . My house though is screwed..i'm thinking.

I've changed my a/c filter, washed blankets etc, but the smell is still there and coming through.

Please help, I don't know what to do, other than put the litter boxes out on the lanai and get them out of the house. I really don't want to do this because I live in SW FL and the humidity and what not will just carry any odor. It's a bad time of year to do this. I've got to get this smell out of my house!!!!!!

  • Pay as you Go, old cell phone with cardboard like mem card, phones barely working but need to get pictures off?

My friend has given me the task of getting pictures off her old Nokia at&t phone. It's a pay as you go phone, and has one of those cardboard like memory cards..or whatever. There's no CD with it, or anything else, and theres no plug in spots for USB or anything. Just a charger spot and what looks like a ipod slot (its not but thats what i can best describe it as). I'm clueless as to how to get the pictures off this phone, as I'm pretty sure its dying and fast. I can't get to any menu's on the phone, I can't get past the time setting and I don't think the buttons work.

Is there any information stored on that memory card (the cardboard like one) that i can get off some how? I'm a verizon user, can I take this phone to a verizon store and see if they can't help me out? (and would they charge for something like this?)

  • large adult dogs and leash training help?

I just adopted 2 dogs who have lived their entire lives on open land. The owners left the country leaving them there. I'm struggling with them being fearful of just about everything. The biggest hurdle are the leashes, and walking on the leashes. I've done some research on leash training but really haven't found anything that works. When they walk on the leashes, all they seem to do are bump my legs and stop because they get "pulled", when its just a tug from the leash.

I could really use some help, they are 100lb dogs.

    Thanks

  • Dog w/Diarhea gone circles with vet problem still stands?

My one and a half year old german shepherd lab mix has had bad diarhea for the past 2 weeks. I've taken him to the vet 3 times, and all they give me are stool hardeners. Then he gets so backed up he can't go so then they give me something to ease the stool with. I'm tired of going round about with the vet, and I don't approve this method either.

They've ruled him out with heartworm or any other sickness, so he's not ill. At least I would hope not. As a puppy he was scared to poo because he had such a sensitive stomach , and so this fear as continued on in his life. He's not going frequently now, and he's hurting when he does go.

What can I Do to help his poo get back on tract? He's been eating nothing but the best dog foods/diet.. and the past week he's been eating chicken, rice, beef and dog kibble all mixed together. This is NOT helping him, where as in the past it has. I really need some help, the vet is useless and the other vet is 50 miles away, and over the phone I was told they would do much of the same solution for him, which was really upsetting. I don't know what I'm supposed to do here, but I need to help my boy, he's miserable.

  • budgies wing bloody from who knows what?

I have 2 budgies, one with un-clipped wings and one still growing out from his last clip. (i dont like their wings clipped) We let them fly around unsupervised but in a closed room that is just for them. Zorro, the one w/clipped wings doesn't go far because of his clipped wings.

Today, we re-arranged their room and upset them quite a bit. They started fighting (not bad just bickering really) but they needed to be seperated. During this seperation and during the 'argument', zorro's wings were not bloody, and did not get pecked at, seeing as he was the aggressor. They had been out of the cage for 20 minutes, when i went to check on him, i noticed red specks on his under wings, and saw that he had alot of red underneath them. It almost looks like a blood feather was broken during a clipping-but he hasnt been clipped. (recently) The bleeding is not dripping, or still bleeding. I was wondering what you think could have happened, and what can I do now that his unde

  • stuffed animal storage?

I am combining my daughters into one bedroom, and using the other bedroom for storage and play. My daughters combined have about 80 little to medium sized stuffed animals, and I am looking for a good way to store them so they can still be used. I was thinking of a large mesh hamper type thing, but i cant find any big enough. I really don't want anything that hangs from the wall. I'm not looking for anything hard, like wooden or metal. Any suggestions?

  • i need to do something to stop the rain from entering quickly, ideas please?

Ok, this is hard to explain but i'm going to try my best. I live in south florida, and we are entering the rainy season and hurricane season. I have a ground level screened in patio that gets flooded with dirt and rain every time it pours, which is every evening at 4. I can't afford to have it raised at this time, so for now i need a quick fix/simple solution. In front of the patio is a bed of what once was flowers, and was filled in with rocks. Awhile ago i put in a plastic border, similar to what you would use to block off the grass from your woodchips or what ever. It no longer works, as the water goes over that. I need something to keep that water from coming in, it floods my home.

Any idea's, suggestions... something i can buy at home depot or lowes from the garden centers?

  • 13 week old lab/shepard/rott mix and cats?

I just recently adopted a very very nice gentle and smart puppy. I have 5 indoor cats, that he going to have to live with. Right now, he is living on the patio until some training is established. So far, so good on that aspect, he's a very quick learner. I have just started letting the cats sniff the dog through a baby gate, and the dog sniff the cats as well. One of my cats took a spit at him, and got a little bit of claw on his nose, and he flew back, and started growling and tiny little barks. Nothing on the aggressive side, just a reaction to the happening. Now, he won't even come near the baby gate, which in the end of things, that could be a good thing to keep him out of the carpeted area's of the house. BUT, now he is afraid of the cats, and won't even go near them with a closed slider door. (glass) I don't know quite where to go from here with these introductions, as I don't want the cats to see they can harm him, and take over him, and i don't want him to be so afraid that when encountered in the future, he strikes reacts and kills.

He's going to be a very big dog. He's a very cautious dog, but not aggressivly cautious. He just likes to be in a comfort zone all the time. When we go on walks, we always stop by our friends houses so that he can see that other people besides us, are okay. He warms up to them after a few minutes no problem. I also take him to see a few of my friends dogs so that he still has dog interactions as well, and those go well after a few minutes too, he's just got to check things out, and make sure everything is going to be okay.

As far as my cats go, I fear that they will be to rough on him in the introductions period, and he will be a very skiddish and aggressive dog in the end of things.

What can I do at this point, to ensure that my cats and he have a good introductory period after this encounter, I don't want any one getting hurt, or killed.

  • Shepard/Rott mix questions?

Well we've found ourselves a dog. We have been recovering from the loss of our last puppy almost a year ago. It was a very tragic loss, and needed time to recover. We've been searching now for a medium sized dog for the past..2 months. Well, failed attempt after failed attempt we've lost 3 potentials that we fell in love with to other families. I'm rambling, sorry. So along comes a 4 month old shepard rotti mix, that we have just fallen in love with. And he's spoken for by us, he's ours. He's getting neutered, healing at the rescue, and then he'll be coming home. My questions are this.

Does the clicker training method work well with larger breed dogs?

What did you rotti or shepard owners feed your dogs when they were 4-5 months of age? (i mean like brand of foods)

Is crate training essential to rott/shepard mixes, even though as an adult I would rather have them not in a crate?

What is the best way to make the puppy comfertable right away, any tips hints tricks?

We want to make this puppy a family dog, that knows how to protect our home as well. I would rather not have an overly aggressive protection side, just a wary dog when it comes to strangers at the house. I'm a stay at home mom, so I will have all the timing in the world to train and help the puppy learn and adjust. I just want to make sure I do things correctly with this mix of breeds.

  • Exchanged MacBook for Sony Viao-smart move for my situation?

I grew up a windows junkie, and i do enjoy windows a lot. I'm one of those lucky few who don't get blue screens, or big data problems or ever those small little glitches.

Now that it was time for me to buy a new computer, I decided 2 things, one i wanted a laptop instead of a desk top. Second is i wanted an Apple.

So i got the money and purchased a Macbook. God, that thing was like another relationship, and I loved the MacBook. But, when I realized that none of my video's were compatible with the Macbook, and read that I would have to install this and download that.. err I just don't understand a lick of it. So I freaked out, decided I wanted a Laptop with Windows on it, and exchanged my Macbook, which was a very sad process. I purchased a pink sony viao @ best buy.

    Ahhh...comfort zone.

However the more I used it, the more I realized how much of a comfort zone I was in with the Macbook. And that the windows system is like a stiff ***** compared to the mac.

So my question is should I run back to the store and get my macbook back, or should I stick with the Sony Viao?

I don't know what I should do, I do like them both, but I have issue's with both.
