What makes believe and trust different?

    Belief is not based on fact, or not entirely. A fair synonym for belief is "faith". Trust may or may not be based on fact or past history. Belief is also often used for ideas or things that people say. Trust is more often used to describe relationships with people or other entities: companies, countries, etc.

    I believe you. (temporarily accepting what the other person says)

    I trust you. (permanent faith)

    Trust is stronger that "believe".
