I need help with Ants?

I have got loads of Ants in the garden they are all in my pots and the plants inside the pots. Is there anything i can do to deter them without harming the plants.

    Boric acid will damage the soil, so that leaves out home remedies and Terro bait.

    Some insecticide that is made for plants will kill the ants.

    Cinnamon does not repel fire ants. I put some of it in a pot of soil that had the fire ants in it and it did not make them leave. The ants kept moving into the soil and stayed there.
