Snog-----can some one tell me what that is?

To people who live in Great Britain--what does the word "snog" mean? I see it from time to time but have not as yet grasped the meaning. Thank you and I appreciate it. I'm not sure, but I think I heard it one time in a Harry Potter movie

How did you get that by spell checker? Didn't it tell you the word was supposed to be "song"? Well, here in the states snog is a combination of snow and fog. In the far northeast like the coast of Maine.

I've read enough of the Harry Potter books to identify it as what we'd call "making out" only pretty ferociously. LOL
