can't right click photo's. Why?

I have an old computer (win xp) and I want to copy photo's to a disk to transfer them to newer computer. Problem is, whenever I right click to try and move them, it just closes the whole my pictures folder. How do I get around this? If I do succeed in getting them to disk, will this infect my new computer with the same issue? I'm not a technophile,so laymans terms please.

Update:

thanks for your answers. I tried the control c and it just closes the folder the same as It did when right clicking. I can drag a picture to the desktop, but it's still the same thing.

If you end up having to do it with the left button, remember you can select multiple fines with CTRL second click, CTRL third click, etc. Or select a range with: first click, SHIFT, last click. This will select first file, last file, and everything in between.

The default drag action is: same disk = MOVE, different disk = COPY

If you are only moving data files, which graphic files are, there should be no contamination from whatever you've got.

You might have a problem with your mouse , try with another one if possible.

If you dont have access to another one, what you could do is:

open the folder with the photos in, press Ctrl + A and then Ctrl + C on you keyboard, then what do need to do is open the disk or usb stick or whatever you are copying them to and press Ctrl + V and what that will do is firstly highlight (Ctrl A) all your photos in the folder, copy (Ctrl C) them and paste them (Ctrl V).

Hope I was of some help.
