Does the Airforce really checks your credit???? Also, can too many root canals can get you disqualified?

The Airforce is to be said the most strict one since it's crowded and they look for anything to disqualified you. Recruiter asks if you have negatives in your credits and says they will do a credit check to see if it's true. Also, I've heard of people who got disqualified for dental issues. Can someone get disqualified for having too many root canals, cavities, tooth implant or crowns??? I'll be needing like 5 root canals for cavities I didn't took care of 10 years ago and got worst....

I am worried that might disqualified me once I get to MEPS.

Does anyone know?

Thanks.....

YES - the air force will check your credit. you can have DEBT, but it must be well-managed, and under control, and you need to have a good income to debt ratio. if you have things in collections, address them. if you have things in default - you have some problems.

Dental: you need to be world-wide deployable in at least a CAT II status. CAT II means you have 'some' issues, but if untreated, there is no reason to suspect it will cause you issues over the next year. eventually they would have to be addressed. CAT I is no issues.

you really can't tell by looking at someone if they have had a root canal, but not sure if there is a magic number of cavities or not. but you can most certainly be DQ'd for dental issues. i have seen it many times.

once you are in, they will take care of these issues. BUT, if you are not yet enlisted; you will probably have to take care of any cavities, crowns, root canals, etc FIRST - before they will allow you to enlist. they won't take care of your teeth before you join

Yes, they run a credit check. My recruiter first told me to run it then print it out and bring it in but he ended up sending for one himself. I had something in collections that I wasn't sure I had (luckily I put that I did have something on my application just in case). He had to get a waiver for me and told me to get on a payment plan ASAP (to show intent to pay). I paid it off in full just to have it cleared up completely.

Oh, and before I paid it off I tried to dispute the debt (it was almost 7 years old and I had disputed it in the past). Actually, about a month after the initial credit check the credit bureaus stopped reporting the debt in collections. I told my recruiter this, he had it run again and told me it was still showing up. So, either he didn't actually run it again and instead assumed it was still there (since I didn't pay yet) OR the Air Force runs a really thorough credit check. (I'm thinking the latter)

Sorry, don't know about the dental stuff. I can't remember if there were any dental related questions on the application/pre-medical paperwork.

Yes, the AF really does a credit check. It's one of the first things the recruiter will do. If you have ANY late payments, charge-offs, delinquencies, you will be DQ'd. They also look at your debt to income ratio. If you have more than 30% debt to your new AF pay, you will be DQ'd

Yes, too many dental issues can also get you DQ'd. Needing 5 root canals will definitely get you DQ'd.
