Before moving in to a development type situation?

does the landlord/manager have a responsibility to let you know that you will be renting a home right next door to a known/tried/convicted felon............it's for child endangerment/and endangerment of others. also, it's know that if he doesn't take his meds, he doesn't do so well..and, he is on continued (for a very long time) house arrest and can not go out anywhere without someone with him........shouldn't that have been disclosed before we moved in.............

No, there is no duty to disclose that information to potential renters. That is why before you sign the lease or write a check you come back to the complex on your own and interview your potential new neighbors in that building and in nearby buildings. Also check with the nearest police precinct and ask about the frequency and nature of police calls to the complex in the last 6 months.

Nope! He has the right to live there and your not entitled to background checks on your neighbors. There are some few Sex Offender Free neighborhoods in Texas, but that isn't child endangerment... Now if the landlord lied about the neighbor then you might have something, although that's hard to prove. Just keep 911 on speed dial, he actually may be harmless, but if i were you i wouldn't engage him.
