Is it controversial to believe that corporations are made up of people with political opinions?

    Not at all. But a coproration is a legal entity that exists for the sepecific purpose of limiting the owners of the corporation from liability of the actions of the corporation - which by definition is amoral and acts only in its self interest for profit someewhat indepentently of its limited liability owners.

    Remove the protections of limited liability and then corporations are people (and will act like people, which are not amoral.)

    No, the controversy starts when those FEW people use their vast resources to buy political power. Then it is used against the base constituency that elected said politician.
